Serbia’s national team will start preparing for the summer challenges in two days.
Head coach Uros Stevanovic will gather the team on May 25 in Kragujevac. At the beginning of the preparations, he won’t count on the players who will participate with their clubs at the Champions League Final Eight. They will join the team on June 8.
Stevanovic called up 21 players. Compared to the team that played at the tournament of the World Cup Division 1 in Podgorica, attacker Nikola Lukic and center-forward Nebojsa Toholj are missing. Dusan Trtovic is on the extended roster of the senior national team for the first time after having a very good season with Partizan.
This year, Serbia will play in three competitions. The first is the qualification tournament for the 2024 European Championships in Istanbul between June 23 and 25 (the rivals are Turkey, Slovakia, and Great Britain). After the qualifications, Serbia travels to the USA for the final tournament of the World Cup in Los Angeles (June 30 – July 2). In the quarterfinals of the Los Angeles tournament, the Serbs will play against Team USA.
The summer for the senior national teams ends with the World Championships in Fukuoka (July 14 – 30).
