The last two matches of the 1st round of the Spanish league was played yesterday evening and today. The games Barceloneta – Mediterrani and Mataro- Sant Andreu had been postponed, as Mediterrani and Mataro were playing in the LEN Euro Cup last weekend.

After success in the LEN Euro Cup, Quadis Mataro faced a very hard task in the national championships. They opened the championships with a home game against Sant Andreu. The visitors didn’t surrender until the end. Deep into the third period, the score was 6:6. By the middle of the last quarter, Mataro nailed three unanswered goals to earn a safe 9:6 lead. Sant Andreu scored two goals in the last two and a half minutes, but Mataro kept the three points.
Barceloneta, the reigning champion, had no mercy in the clash with Mediterrani. Barceloneta took an early 8:0 lead and Mediterrani couldn’t recover from that shock.
