The tournament started as expected. Spandau 04 and Hannover recorded wins in rounds 1 and 2, and the big derby between these two teams was decisive in the hunt for 1st place.

Spandau recorded a win over Waspo in the game played at the first tournament (8:7) and needed just a point in Hannover to remain atop the table (in meantime the big rivals faced off in the match for the Super Cup, and Hannover won the trophy).

Only two goals were scored in the first half. Winkelhorst gave Hannover a 1:0 lead in the 6th minute, while Restovic equalized in the second period. Early in the third period, Nagaev put Waspo in front – 2:1. But, Spandau responded with three unanswered goals (Cagalj 2 and Kholod 1), to earn a 4:2 advantage before the final quarter. In the 26th minute, Kholod streched the margin to three (5:2). The hosts didn’t recover from that 0:4 series. In the middle fourth quarter, Hannover’s Corusic reduced the gap (3:5), but Cagalj responded immediately for 6:3. Hannover scored two goals in the last 88 seconds, but it was too late.

ASC Duisburg beat OSC Potsdam 10:5 and jumped to the 3rd place. ASC and OSC finished the tournament with two points each, but Duisburg is better than Potsdam in the head-to-head duels. OSC defeated ASC at the first tournament, but only one goal separated the rivals in that duel (12:11).

The encounter between Duisburg and Potsdam in Hannover was an even contest in the first half. The score was 4:4 at the middle break. Duisburg held Potsdam goalless in the first 12 minutes of the second half, while it scored five goals, and gained a safe 9:4 advantage to secure 3rd place.

2. Waspo Hannover 6 – 8
3. ASC Duisburg 6 – 2*
