The regular season of the Hungarian Championships has finished. The matches of the 26th round were played today.
The big game of the day was an encounter between OSC Budapest and Szolnok, which was decisive in a battle for 2nd place. The match ended in an 11:11 draw. Szolnok kept a 1-point advantage ahead of OSC and kept 2nd place in the standings. Ferencvaros will enter the playoffs from 1st place, OSC is 3rd, Vasas in 4th place, etc.
Therefore, Ferevncaros will play against Vasas in the semifinals, the other pair is Szolnok – OSC.

OSC Budapest was ahead for most of the time of the match against Szolnok, but it didn’t achieve a win and finished the regular season in 3rd place. Szolnok scored two opening goals in the game. OSC started chasing the rival. Midway through the second period, OSC went ahead for the first time – 6:5 (Burian). Shortly after, Erik Csacsovszky doubled the hosts’ advantage.
In the third period, OSC stretched the margin to three (9:6 and 10:7). A second before the last break, Szolnok’s Akos Konarik converted a penalty shot and cut the deficit to one goal (9:10). Gergo Kovacs leveled at 10:10 (27th minute). OSC earned a new lead in the 30th minute after Burian netted an action goal (11:10). Szolnok earned a man-up in the next possession. Adam Nagy found the net with an extra and the sides were tied again (11:11). There were no goals in the remaining time, and Szolnok won a valuable point.
The reigning champion will have home-field advantage in the semifinals. This point isn’t only important in a battle for 2nd place. OSC and Szolnok will face in the semifinals, and the points won in the regular season will be carried to the playoffs. Still, OSC is closer to the final. Szolnok will start with one, and OSC with four points. The team which wins 7 points in the series will advance to the final.
Ferencvaros finished the season with a convincing win over Debrecen. Denes Varga didn’t play, but a 17-year-old Daniel Vince Varga was on the roster and contributed to the win with one goal.
Vasas started slowly in the match against Kaposvar, but it built a 3-goal lead in the third quarter and maintained the difference until the end.
BVSC confirmed 5th place with a narrow away victory over Szeged. BVSC had a 4-goal lead (10:6) early in the fourth period. BVSC started coming back and scored three straight goals to narrow the margin (9:10), but the hosts’ ninth goal came too late, just three seconds before the buzzer.
Honved made no mistake, it beat Szentes convincingly to confirm 6th place.
