The final of the Hungarian Cup is coming near. The third stage of the competition has started today. All of the matches of this phase will be played in the “Alfred Hajos” pool on Margaret Island in Budapest.

The teams that won 1st and 2nd places in their groups of the second stage play in Group I of the 3rd phase (1st-8th position). The 1st-placed teams from the 2nd stage will face the 2nd-placed sides. The teams which were in the same group of Stage 2 will not meet, but they brought the score of their encounter in the 2nd stage.

Honved kept up with OSC for two quarters. In the third period, OSC built a five-goal lead for the first time (10:5). The rest of the game was an even contest.

Ferencvaros, the European champion, had a slow start. BVSC took a 2:0 lead. Ferencvaros got on the scoreboard in the 6th minute when Nikola Jaksic converted a man-up. Nineteen seconds before the first break, Vendel Vigvari equalized. Ferencvaros added five goals in the second quarter, and it had a comfortable 7:2 lead at halftime. In the second half, Ferencvaros extended the margin to six several times (13:7, 14:8, 15:9). Still, after the final buzzer, the distance between the teams was five goals, just like in the previous two games. A young Vendel Vigvari was Ferencvaros’s leading scorer once more.
