Krystina Alogbo
National team: Canada
Krystina Alogbo, the best female water polo player of the year 2011 by the Swimming World Magazine, debuted for the Canadian senior national team in 2005 and won the bronze medal at the World Championships in the same year. Later, she won six silver medals with Canada (World Championships – 2009, Pan American Games – 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019, and World League – 2017). – VOTE
Bronwen Knox
National team: Australia
Bronwen Knox became a member of the “Aussie Stringers” in 2005. Since then, she has captured nine medals at major competitions. Knox climbed the Olympic podium twice (bronze medals in 2008 and 2012), has three medals at the World Championships (silver in 2007 and 2013 and bronze in 2019), two in the FINA World Cup (gold in 2006 and silver 2010), and two medals (silver and bronze) in the World League. She has experience playing water polo in Europe. As a member of Olympiacos, Knox won the 2014 Euro League. – VOTE
Kameryn Craig
National team: USA
As a member of the USA Water Polo Team’s golden generation, Kameryn Craig won three Olympic medals – silver in Beijing 2008, and gold medals in London in 2012 and in Rio four years later. She collected three gold medals at the World Championships (2007, 2009, 2015), eight gold medals in the World League, and two 1st places at the Pan American Games (2011 and 2015). – VOTE
Giusi Malato
National team: Italy
Giusi Letizia Malato was one of the Italian national team’s best scorers in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics. She was the best scorer of the 1999 European Championship when Italy clinched the gold. At the World Championships, Malato took two gold medals (1998 and 2001) and silver in 2003. – VOTE
Barbara Bujka

Barbara Bujka started playing water polo in Germany. In 2006, she joined the Hungarian national team. Bujka won bronze at the 2013 World Championships. The crown of her career in the national team is the title of the European champion (2016). She has four bronze medals at the continental championships (2006, 2008, 2012, 2014). – VOTE
Elisa Casanova
National team: Italy
Elisa Casanova played water polo at senior level for more than 20 years, despite the fact she was a swimmer as a teenager, and she approached the world of water polo when she was almost 20 years old. Playing for Italy, she won the gold medal at the 2012 European Championship and 2nd place in the 2011 World League. She has one LEN Euroleague (with Florentia in 2007) and two LEN trophies (Imperia – 2012 and 2015). She retired four years ago, at the age of 43. – VOTE
Maica Godoy
National team: Spain
Maria “Maica” Garcia Godoy, the best European player of the year in 2014 (by LEN), has been one of the leaders of the Spanish national team in the last several years. At the 2012 Olympics, she won a silver medal. Besides, she has one gold (2013) and silver (2019) at the World Championships, two gold medals at the European Championships (2014, 2020), one silver (2008) and bronze (2018). Playing for Sabadell, she has collected five trophies in the LEN Euro League (2011, 2013,2014, 2016,2019). – VOTE
Alexandra Asimaki
National team: Greece
Alexandra Asimaki, who recently retired, was part of the Greek national team that won the gold medal at the 2011 World Championships. She has the 2010 World League title, three silver medals at the European Championships (2010,2012, 2018). She was named the best European and World female water polo player of the year 2011. Asimaki clinched three trophies in the LEN Euro League – with Vouliagmeni (2009 and 2010) and with Olympiacos (2015). – VOTE
Mile Smodlaka

Mile Smodlaka was one of Croatia’s key players at the 2007 World Championships when the Croats won the gold medal. Besides, he has two silver medals at the European Championships (1999 and 2003). He is one of the best players in the history of VK Jug. Playing for Jug, Smodlaka won two titles of the European Champion (2001 and 2006). – VOTE
Revaz Chomakhidze

Chomakidze was one of the leaders of Russia, which achieved big successes in the early 2000s. He climbed the podium at the Olympic Games twice (silver in 2000 and bronze in 2004). Tamas Molnar

Tamas Molnar is one of just ten male water polo players who won three Olympic gold medals. He did it at the Olympics held in 2000, 2004, and 2008. There are 20 medals in his rich treasury, including nine gold – three at the Olympics, one at the World Championships (2003), two in the World League (2003 and 2004), two at the European Championships (1997 and 1999), and one in the FINA World Cup (1999). Slobodan Nikic

Slobodan Nikic is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of water polo. He has 29 medals from major competitions for the national teams. Nikic is the only male water polo player in history who won three gold medals at the World Championships (2005, 2009, 2015). He has three Olympic medals (gold in 2016, silver in 2004, bronze in 2012). He won 20 gold medals in total. Besides three World titles and the 2016 Olympic gold, Nikic has five European gold medals (2003, 2006, 2012, 2014,2016), nine World League titles, and two gold medals in the FINA World Cup (2006 and 2010). Nikic won the Champions League twice (2010 as Pro Recco player and 2019 with Ferencvaros). – VOTE
Igor Hinic
National team: Croatia
Igor Hinic is the only Croatian water polo player who won Olympic medals in two centuries. In 1996, he took the silver medal. Sixteen years later, he added the Olympic title to his treasury. Hinic won 10 medals with the national team of Croatia, including four golds (2007 World Championships, 2010 European Championships, 2012 World League and 2012 Olympic Games). He is the record holder by the number of appearances for the national team of Croatia, with 417 caps. Hinic is one of just 14 water polo players who competed at the Olympic Games five times. He was the MVP of the water polo tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games. – VOTE
Ivan Perez
National team: Cuba/Spain
Ivan Perez debuted at the Olympic Games in 1992, representing Cuba. But, he became a Spanish citizen later and achieved great successes with the new country’s national team. Perez won two gold medals at the World Championships (1998 and 2001) and seven medals in total at the FINA and LEN major tournaments, playing for Spain. – VOTE
Boris Zlokovic

Boris Zlokovic collected a total of seven medals at the big competitions, including four golds. He was the 2005 World Champion and the 2003 European champion with Serbia and Montenegro. Playing for Montenegro, he won the gold medals at the 2008 European Championship and in the 2009 World League. Dusko Pijetlovic has won 28 medals at FINA and LEN major tournaments since his debut for the national team 15 years ago. There are 21 gold medals in Pijetlovic’s collection: one Olympic (2016), two World titles (2009 and 2015), five European crowns (2006, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018), two World Cup golds (2006 and 2010) and 11 first places in the FINA World League. He won four Champions Leagues with three different clubs: Partizan (2011), Pro Recco (2012 and 2015), and Crvena Zvezda (2013). In 2015, he was voted the best water polo player of Europe by LEN and received an award for the World Water Polo Player of the year by the Swimming World Magazine.
