Harry van der Meer, the head coach of the national team of the Netherlands, is a three-time Olympian. He represented the Netherlands in Barcelona in 1992 (9th place), four years after in Atlanta (10th place), and in Sydney in 2000 (11th place). He was one of the leaders of the Dutch team in the 1990s and the early 2000s.
He has been the head coach of the senior national team for several years. This year, the Netherlands finished in 11th place at the European Championships. Still, the Dutch proved their potential and caused headaches to the favorites. They suffered a one-goal loss to world champion Spain in the group stage. Olympic champion Serbia defeated the Netherlands after a penalty shootout.
