The new year brought a fresh round of fixtures in the Division de Honor, with teams now playing their reverse fixtures. Today saw just three games with Sabadell winning with relative ease at Mediterrani, Mataro just about securing an win away at Barceloneta and Andreu beating Feliu in the battle of the saints. The three other games due to be played in this matchday have been rescheduled. They are: CN Catalunya vs CN Rubi (12th Jan), ESC Zaragoza vs Natacion Boadilla (23rd Jan) and CN Terrassa vs AR Concepcion (30th Jan).
CE Mediterrani 7-16 CN Sabadell (2-6, 1-4, 1-2, 3-4)
Mediterrani: N. Trojan, A. Munoz 1, J. Cereijo, I. Wolves 1, C. Toha Vilanova, C. Rodriguez, C. Espar 2, A. Marcos, M. Viladot, H. Dalmases, P. Crespi 2, S. Lizotte, D. Willemsz
Sabadell: L. Ester, M. Ortiz 1, B. Games 1, S. Van der Sloot 4, M. Serrano 1, M. Steffens, I. Casado Lopez, M. Garcia Godoy 3, J. Forca Ariza, M. Keuning 1, N. Perez 1, I. Gonzalez 3, P. Carilla
The first game of 2022 in the Women’s Division de Honor resulted in a twelve successive domestic win this season for Sabadell, beating CE Mediterrani 16-7. The visitors, who won the reverse fixture 13-8 in matchday 1, raced to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter, and put the result beyond doubt at half-time with a unassailable 10-3 lead. Sabrina Van der Sloot grabbed four in the match, while there was a first half hat-tick for Irene Gonzalez.
Clara Espar and Paula Crespi both registered two goals in the game, but in truth Maria Diaz’s side were beaten with relative comfort.
CN Atletic Barceloneta 7-8 CN Mataro (1-1, 3-3, 1-3, 2-1)
Barceloneta: A. Farre, A. Garcia, E. Fernandez, C. Martin 3, N. Josifovic, M. Altisen, A. Pastor, N. Mandic, B. Seto 2, J. Altisen, L. Terol 1, M. Madre 1, P. Rutgers
Mataro: M. Sanchez, S. Morell 1, R. Gurri, A. Gual 2, V. Sevenich, A. Timofeeva 1, C. Cambray 2, C. Nogue 2, M. Bach, Q. Bertran, M. Claveria, B. Colominas
Mataro got their 2022 underway with a 8-7 away win at Barca, however, the victory was anything but convincing. It took a goal from Clara Cambray, 93 seconds from time, to secure the 3 points. Admittedly, Mataro were missing a few players, notably Simone Van der Kraats, Anna Timofeeva, Bella Markoch and Annie Espar – who today celebrates her 29th birthday. But there is no doubt Dani Ballart and his side have had a turbulent few months, with the big defeat to Sabadell and the extremely disappointing exit from the Euro League.
For Barceloneta, they’ll be really disappointed not to have taken something from the game – which speaks to how competitive they were in the game. Carla Martin scored a hat-trick in the game while Berta Seto grabbed a brace. Barca currently sit in 10th.
CN Sant Andreu 19-8 CN Sant Feliu (5-3, 4-1, 4-2, 6-2)
Sant Andreu: A. Lorca, G. Bellido, I. Martinez, M. Van der Weijden 4, G. La Farre 4, H. Ruckelshaus Shabb 4, M. Cordobes, D. Mammolito 2, M. Ungria, A. Ruiz Barril 5, M. Terre
Sant Feliu: I. Costa, J. Soler 1, M. Bargallo 2, M. Bernabe, B. Goset 2, L Roca Herrera 1, C. Moreno 1, D. Moreno, U. Del Sol Agusti, L. Hidalgo, B. Tora, I. Turegano
Sant Andreu put Sant Feliu to the sword with a strong home display to kick-off their new year. Four of their players scored 17 of their goals – Ariadna Ruiz Barril (5), Marit Van der Weijden (4), Gisel La Farre (4) and Hannah Ruckelshaus Shabb (4). The win puts Andreu level on points with CE Mediterrani in 5th.
