The first two preliminary rounds are complete as the fourth day of the U16 Women’s World Championships comes to a close. The competition now essentially splits into two competitions; the Silver round and the Final round.
The top two teams from Groups E-H now proceed into the Final round (aka the Platinum/Gold round), which follows a quarter-final, semi-final and final format. The five remaining teams, the third placed teams in Groups E-H (plus the forth placed team in Group F), will create a mini league; with all five nations facing each other once.
And so we have the eight teams who will be competing in the upper tier of the competition; including two undefeated nations so far, Hungary and Greece, as well as group toppers, Croatia and Italy. Spain, the Netherlands, the Australia and Japan are the other teams still in the mix.
The United States, who are perhaps unfortunate not to make the top eight, will now filter into the Silver Round, alongside: Turkiye, South Africa, Israel and Switzerland.
Check out all of todays scores, and the next round of fixtures.
