OSC started the Hungarian League season last of all teams due to numerous coronavirus cases at the club. But, OSC has played two games a week since October 7 and caught the rivals in the number of games.

Besides OSC and Szentes, Miskolc and KSI played today. Miskolc recorded a 15:10 win.

OSC water polo players are, obviously, well prepared for the start in the Champions League qualifications in Budapest next week. Of course, their rivals at the European stage will be clubs stronger than Szentes. But, a 25:6 win in probably the best national water polo league in the world is a significant result.
The encounter between OSC and Szentes turned into a one-sided contest quickly. In the 3rd minute, OSC led 3:0. The hosts played excellently both in defense and attack. They had a 19:0 lead in the last minute of the third period. The visitors, finally, found the net 17 seconds before the last break for 1:19. The fourth quarter was completely different comparing the previous three. There were 10 goals in the final eight minutes – five on each side of the pool. But, the outcome of the match was decided much before the fourth period.
Szentes managed to stop OSC’s best scorer Krisztian Manhercz, who scored “only” two goals. Balazs Erdelyi and Marton Toth were the best scorers.
KSI started well in Miskolc and took a 2:1 lead. However, the hosts, led by Marton Magyar and Barnabas Biros , produced a 4:0 series for a 5:2 advantage after the first quarter. In the middle of the third period, Miskolc built a 5-goal lead (10:5) and maintained the difference until the last buzzer.

New corona cases
Unfortunately, another wave of the coronavirus pandemic hit the Hungarian clubs.
Szeged was supposed to play against Honved today. Yesterday, the club announced that eight players had tested positive and requested postponement of the next four games (Honved, Szentes, Miskolc, and Tatabanya).
Several players of Vasas have produced positive coronavirus tests this week, and the club asked the Hungarian federation to postpone the match Vasas – BVSC, planned for Sunday. The players and the staff will be tested tomorrow again. All further decisions will be based on the results of Thursday’s PCR tests, Vasas announced today.
