Valuable away victories for Barcelona and Terrassa

The leader of the Spanish League Sabadell continued its winning streak, beating Mataro in the 10th round, the last one in 2022..

Terrassa earned an important away victory over Mediterrani. Barcelona returned from Tenerife with three valuable points in the pocket.

Reigning champion Barceloneta didn’t have a challenging match on Day 10.

At the end of 2022, Sabadell is atop the table, with three points more than Barceloneta. Terrassa and Barcelona share 3rd and 4th place.

Mediterrani – Terrassa 8:11 (1:2, 3:3, 2:3, 2:3)

Mediterrani welcomed Terrassa in one of the derbies of the day. Before Day 10, three points separated the rivals, and Mediterrani had a chance to catch up with Terrassa. But, the hosts didn’t manage to wn. Moreover, they couldn’t take the lead in this game. By the middle of the fourth period, Terrassa earned a 2:0 advantage. Early in the second quarter, Mediterrani leveled at 2:2. But the visitors responded with two goals to go to 4:2 and from that point on, they were always ahead. In the 24th minute, Mediterrani came close for the last time (6:7). Four seconds before the last break, Alarcon doubled the visitors’ advantage. In the middle of the fourth period, the same player made it 9:6. Terrassa maintained a solid 3-goal difference until the end.

Leader Sabadell defeated Mataro 13:9. Still, it wasn’t such an easy victory. Sabadell broke the rival’s resistance in the final eight minutes. Mataro trailed for most of the match. The visitors leveled just twice, both times in the early stage of the game (1:1, 3:3). Still, they didn’t surrender and chased the favorite. Two minutes before the end of the third quarter, Mataro reduced the gap to one (6:7). Still, Sabadell regained a 3-goal lead at the beginning of the fourth period (9:7). The persistent visitors didn’t give up. In the 31st minute, the difference was still two goals (11:9). But the finish belonged to Sabadell. The hosts doubled the gap with two goals in the last 77 seconds.

Barcelona displayed excellent water polo and beat Tenerife much easier than expected – 15:9. The Catalans recovered from elimination from the LEN Euro Cup. The visitors dictated the pace and knocked Tenerife down with a 5:1 third period.

Barceloneta was too strong for Rubi, which is the only team that will enter the new year without a single point.

One goal decided the winner in the match Catalunya – Real Canoe. Catalunya, the home team, was in front from the beginning of the match. However, Real took control in the middle of the third quarter. Early in the fourth period, the visitors led 8:6. But, Catalunya scored the last three goals in the match. Arino set the final score with 36 seconds to go.

Sant Andreu defeated Caballa thanks to a good second half.
