Vasas recorded a big away win over Szolnok (15:6) in the first match of the 3rd-place playoffs of the Hungarian Championship.
A team that achieves two wins will win 3rd place. So, Vasas will have “a match ball” and a chance to secure a spot in the Champions League qualifications in the second game in Budapest. The second match is scheduled for May 14.

Szolnok, the outgoing champion, equalized just once (1:1), but until the middle of the second quarter, it seemed that the game would be open until the end. In the 12th minute, Vasas had a 4:2 advantage. Then, the visitors netted four goals in the last four and a half minutes of the first half and jumped to an 8:2 lead.
Vasas continued dominating. The Budapest-based side went to 10:2 (19th minute). Vasas had a 10-goal advantage (15:5), but Szeghalmi converted a man-up with two seconds to go and Szolnok avoided a defeat with a double-digit margin.
The playoffs for the classification 5th – 12th have been finished. Honved won 5th place and qualified for the LEN Euro Cup.
