Three best Hungarian clubs – Ferencvaros, OSC Budapest and Vasas opened the new season in the national championship with convincing away wins.
Vasas demolished KSI (20:6), OSC beat Miskolc (14:8), and Ferencvaros defeated BVSC (14:9).
Two former national champions shared the points in a very exciting match. An encounter between Eger and Szolnok ended in a 13:13 draw.

Vasas showed no mercy to the returnee to the Hungarian League, KSI. The visitors had a double-digit lead already in the 14th minute (12:2). Vasas’ attack slowed in the third period. Still, it re-found its rhythm in the fourth quarter and recorded a 20:6 victory. Newcomers – Russian leftie Ivan Nagaev (who arrived from Hannover) and Akos Konarik (Szolnok) scored four goals each.
OSC Budapest secured a big lead in the early stage of the game against Miskolc. The team from the capital kept Miskolc goalless until the 12th minute, while it netted five goals and led 5:0 in the middle of the second period. Miskolc managed to reduce the gap to three goals three times (4:7, 6:9, 8:11), but the visitors maintained an advantage. A young Vince Vigvari was the best scorer of the match with four goals. Danial Angyal, who moved from Szolnok to OSC this summer, debuted for the new club scoring three goals.
Ferencvaros needed more time to secure the victory than Vasas and OSC. The reigning champion led by a goal six times in the first half, but BVSC equalized on each occasion, and the score at halftime was 6:6. But, Ferencvaros, led by Adam Nagy, Nemanja Ubovic and Viktor Vadovics, dominated the second half and won 14:9
Szolnok and Eger shared the points after a big battle with many twists and turns. Szolnok started better and led 3:1, 4:2, 5:3. Eger produced a 5:1 series between the 14th and 18th minute to turn a 2-goal deficit into an 8:6 lead. Before the final quarter, the sides were tied at 9:9. Eger earned an opening 10:9 and 11:10 advantage in the fourth period. However, Szolnok, which led 12:11 and 13:12, was closer to a victory. In the end, the match ended in a 13:13 draw. Dimitrije Krijestorac secured a point for Eger by converting a penalty shot with 24 seconds to go.
Szeged and Kaposvar played a very exciting match, too. Kaposvar led 7:4 at halftime, but Szeged started coming back in time. Szeged took a 10:9 lead with 39 left on the clock. But, Kaposvar scored an equalizer two seconds from time, and the match ended with no winner.
