Ferencvaros, BVSC, and Vasas all continued their winning streaks in the 6th round of the Hungarian Championships, catching up with Honved in points. Honved played its match in this round a month ago due to its participation in the Conference Cup this weekend..
Ferencvaros and BVSC achieved easy victories, while Vasas faced a tough challenge against Kaposvar, the 11th-placed team that has won one point so far.
The game between Vasas and Kaposvar was an even contest from the first whistle until the final buzzer. The lead changed hands multiple times, with Kaposvar building a 2-goal lead (9:7) in the second quarter. Vasas equalized at 9:9 before the halftime break and opened the third period with a goal, taking a 10:9 lead.
However, Kaposvar fought back, leading for most of the second half, and at times held a 2-goal advantage. Four minutes before the final buzzer, Kaposvar was ahead 16:14. In a dramatic finish, Vasas‘ Soma Lakatos stepped up, scoring the last three goals of the game. He netted the winner for a final score of 17:16 with just 31 seconds remaining. Lakatos finished the match with five goals, but the top scorer was the hosts’ captain, Bence Batori, who scored six goals. For Kaposvar, Berta, and Pellei each netted three goals.
Ferencvaros defeated Szentes with 18:9, with four goals from Stylianos Argyropoulos and three from Vendel Vigvari.
Zsombor Ekler found the net four times in BVSC’s 20:10 victory over Szeged.
UVSE put up a strong fight against Eger but lacked the energy for the final minutes. UVSE, the visiting team, had an 8:6 lead at halftime, but Eger managed to tie the game at 8:8 in the third quarter. In the fourth period, the hosts took the lead for the first time and secured an 11:9 victory, with three goals from Rajmund Radli.
