Reigning champion Waspo Hannover and OSC Potsdam qualified for the semifinals of the 100th edition of the German League. Itβs most likely that Spandau 04 and ASC Duisburg will join them in the last four.
The second tournaments of the preliminary phase of the national championship were held last week. Waspo and OSC mathematically secured their spots in the group for the title. Spandau 04 and ASC Duisburg will probably advance to the last four after the remaining six games (that have been postponed) will be played.
The points of the mutual encounters between the teams that played in the same group will be carried to the group for the title (Group E). Each team will play four games in Group E, which starts in May, and after that, the semifinals of the playoffs will be held.
The 3rd-placed and 4th-placed teams in groups A and B will play for the classification 5th-12th, along with the teams from groups C and D, that havenβt been finished yet.

White Sharks Hannover was absent from the tournament due to the coronavirus cases at the club.
There havenβt been exciting matches in Hannover. Waspo 98 confirmed first place in the group with two big wins. ASC Duisburg earned a 7-goal lead in the first half of the match against Esslingen (10:3), which determined the rest of the game.

Spandau didnβt take part in the first tournament due to the corona cases at the club. So, the games in Potsdam were the Berlinersβ debut in the domestic competitions this season. They easily beat Ludwigsburg and Neukolln on the first day.
The most exciting match was an encounter between OSC Potsdam and Ludwigsburg. OSC had a 4-goal lead early in the fourth quarter β 10:6. Still, Ludwigsburg managed to catch up with the rival, and the game ended in an 11:11 draw. However, the point was enough for OSC to secure a spot in the group for the title because it defeated Ludwigsburg at the first tournament (16:7).
The tournament was closed by a derby game between OSC Potsdam and Spandau. Spandau started slowly, but it had a slim advantage (2:1) after the first quarter. OSC managed to equalize before the middle break (4:4) and even took a 5:4 lead in the middle of the third period. But, Spandau scored five unanswered goals in the last 11 minutes for a 9:5 victory.
