World Aquatics has confirmed the date and lines for the draw of the groups at the water polo tournament draw at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka.
The draw will be held on Tuesday, April 18, in Athens, a day before the second tournament of the Women’s World Cup Division 1.
Today, World Aquatics officially announced and published the lines for the draw on its website, confirming what Total Waterpolo published two days ago.
Men
First line: Spain, Greece, Croatia, Italy.
Second line: Serbia, USA, Canada, Hungary
Third line: Brazil, France, Montenegro, Australia
Fourth line: South Africa, Japan, China, Kazakhstan.
Women
First line: USA, Hungary, Netherlands, Italy
Second line: Spain, Australia, Canada, Greece
Third line: Brazil, Israel, France, New Zealand
Fourth line: South Africa, Japan, China, Kazakhstan
The competition formula hasn’t been changed. The teams will be split into four groups of four teams. The group winners will advance directly to the quarterfinals. The 2nd-placed and 3rd-placed will go to the cross-over round.
