Sabadell's super summer spending spree continues with the signing of yet another world-class player, Rita Keszthelyi.
Alongside the signings of Simone Van de Kraats and Laura Aarts, Sabadell are robbing Mataro of their top quality, with Keszthelyi the latest to join the European Champions from the Maresme. With Van de Kraats, Keszthelyi played a key role in Mataro's title winning campaign this season, that also saw them clinch the Copa Catalunya.
Keszthelyi, a three-time Olympian, is widely regarded as one of the greatest female water polo players in history, not just from Hungary but globally. This move marks her ninth club affiliation.
Her illustrious career began at UVSE, and she has since played for several elite teams, including Szentes (winning the title in 2011-12), Dunaujvaros (securing national titles in 2009-10 and 2010-11), Eger (winning the title in 2012-13), and Orizzonte Catania in Italy.
Since 2008, Keszthelyi has been a cornerstone of the Hungarian national team, captaining them to a gold medal at the 2016 European Championships. She recently added two World Championship silver medals (2022 and 2024) and an Olympic bronze medal from Tokyo 2020 to her impressive list of accolades.
