Just a day after Olympiacos secured their 11th consecutive Greek Championship title, rumors are swirling that one of their standout players might be leaving for a new team next season.
Speculation is mounting that Greek International Eleftheria Plevritou is a major transfer target for Hungarian side Ferencvaros for the 2024-25 season.
Plevritou, who hails from Thessaloniki, joined Olympiacos in 2011. She has since become a ten-time Greek champion, a five-time Greek Cup winner, and a three-time Women's Champions League winner with the Red-Whites. Ferencvaros would gain not only her exceptional physical prowess but also her winning mentality.
On the international stage, Plevritou has twice won silver medals at the European Championships (2018 and 2022). She is expected to play a crucial role in Greece's Olympic campaign in Paris, marking their first Olympic appearance since Beijing 2008.
Ferencvaros women fell short of winning the Hungarian league this season. They hope that their new coach, Mark Matajsz, and potentially the addition of Plevritou (and others), will bolster their chances next season.
