The most important match of the 16th round of the French League was an encounter played in the northeastern suburbs of Paris – Bobigny, where Noisy-le-Sec welcomed Strasbourg.
The visitors recorded a narrow 14:13 victory and almost secured 2nd place in the regular season and a spot in the semifinals of the playoffs (the top two teams go directly to semis). Strasbourg and Noisy will play three matches until the end of the regular season. Strasbourg has nine points more than Noisy, which is better in head-to-head games (Noisy beat Strasbourg 8:5 in the first half of the season. Therefore, Strasbourg needs only a point to mathematically secure 2nd place.
A very exciting game was played in Aix-en-Provence where Pays d’Aix and Montpellier shared the points – 10:10.

Strasbourg led for most of the time of the match in Bobigny, but the visitors’ advantage was never bigger than two goals. In the third quarter, Noisy caught up with Strasbourg (8:8, 9:9,10:10). However, Strasbourg had an 11:10 lead before the final period. Missy doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 26th minute (12:10). A minute and a half before the end, Marzouki leveled at 12:12. Immediately after, Missy added his fifth goal for 13:12. Noisy’s Krapic continued this exchange of goals scoring for 13:13 with 52 seconds to go. However, just four seconds before the buzzer, Strasbourg’s Canovas netted for 14:13 and Noisy left the pool empty-handed.
The final score proves that the game was an even contest. After the third period, the score was 9:9. In the 26th minute, Grgurevic put Pays d’Aix ahead – 10:9. Both teams wasted a few man-ups in the following minutes. The next goal came in the 31st minute – Montpellier’s Spillaert found the net for 10:10. There were no goals in the last minute and a half. Montpellier kept 5th place, with one point more than Pays d’Aix. However, Aix has played one game fewer.
Tourcoing beat Nice in a flood of goals. Nice didn’t surrender until the last buzzer, but Tourcoing proved which team the favorite was.
