After the end of the season, Barcelona announced that it had released ten players.
The first reinforcements have started arriving in the last several days.
The club confirmed that four players had signed the contracts. Barcelona welcomed Pol Daura (defender), Victor Andrade, Victor Alegre (both attackers) and Miki Linares (goalkeeper) in a short statement.
Daura and Andrade arrived from Mataro and Alegre from Tenerife Echeyde.
The new goalkeeper Miki Linares was out of professional water polo for three years. The 26-year-old goalie came out of temporary retirement.
The story about Linares’ career and retirement is quite interesting. He started playing water polo at Barceloneta. In 2014, he became a member of the senior team. Playing for Barceloneta as Dani Lopez’s reserve, he won six titles of the Spanish champion, six Spanish Cups, the 2014 LEN Super Cup, two bronze medals in the Champions League.
Three years ago, he stopped playing water polo at the professional level. He studied medicine and wasn’t able to harmonize demanding activities at the finish of his studies at the Medical Faculty in Barcelona with training and games in Barceloneta. On that occasion, he said that he would like to play water polo again. Meanwhile, he obviously managed to balance all his commitments, so he returned to water polo.
It's expected that Barcelona will confirm Lluc Bertran's arrival soon.
