The fourth round of the women’s tournament at the Universiade in Chengdu saw all the favorites record convinving victories.
Host China still has a perfect record and mathematically secured first place in the group. Italy will finish 2nd.
China defeated South Africa 24:4, with Xinhua Pan and Qiyun Zholng scoring four goals each for China.
Italy posted the most convincing win of the day, downing Singapore 33:2. All Italy’s field players contributed to the scoreline.
Japan had a dominant performance against Australia, winning easier than expected 16:4. Momone Ninagawa netted five goals and Kanon Sugimoto added four. With this victory, Japan practically secured 3rd place.
The Australians also qualified for the semifinals. South Africa and Singapore cannot catch up with them. These two teams will play in the 5th-place match.
The last round of the group stage will see South Africa play against Italy, China against Australia and Singapore against Japan.
