Brescia struggled to find the back of the net in the match against Ortigia and scored only three goals.

Italian League, Day 3
The third round of Serie A1 brought two derbies between the teams that play in the Euro Cups this season.
European champion Pro Recco beat Savona 13:9, which was expected. However, Ortigia’s convincing 7:3 win over Brescia is quite surprising.
The final score of the match Ortigia -Brescia says all. Ortigia won thanks to an excellent defense commanded by a 44-year-old goalkeeper, Stefano Tempesti. Besides, Brescia’s mistakes helped the Sicilians. The visitors had a terrible percentage of extra player shots (0/11).
Brescia scored the first goal. Ortigia responded with a 3:0 series and headed into the 2nd half leading 3:1. At the beginning of the third quarter, Balzarini ended Brescia’s 15-minute silence (2:3), but Ortigia answered in a better way than in the first half – scoring four straight goals and jumped to 7:2. The officially second-best Italian club scored just a consolation goal at the finish and extended its losing streak (in the past eight days, Brescia was defeated by Savona, Novi Beograd and Ortigia). Francesco Cassia was the top scorer with four goals.

Savona had a good start in the match against Recco and was 3:2 up at the first break. Recco, led by Gergo Zalanki (4 goals) and Andrea Fondelli (3), opened the second quarter for 5:3. It didn’t let Savona equalize in the remaining time.
Telimar recorded the most convincing win of the day – 17:4 over De Akker. The Americans on Telimar’s roster combined 11 goals. Johhny Hooper scored six, and Quinn Woodhead five.

Hungarian League, Day 5
Seven matches of the Hungarian League were played between two Wednesdays.
There were no surprises in the 5th round. All favorites collected the points. Vasas narrowly defeated Eger (15:14). The LEN Euro Cup winner built a 9:4 advantage in the first half. Eger started coming back after the middle break but couldn’t equalize. It reduced the gap to one in the dying seconds.
Ferencvaros demolished UVSE 20:3, OSC beat Szeged 15:9, etc.
BVSC was better than Szolnok 13:8. Szolnok was two steps ahead of the rival at halftime (5:3), but an excellent 7:1 third quarter put BVSC on the right track.
Honved defeated UVSE in the postponed match of Round 3 – 11:7.

French League, Day 4
An encounter between Strasbourg and Tourcoing was the highlight of the 4th round of the French League.
Strasbourg collected the points with an 11:8 victory. After a 2:2 first quarter, Strasbourg opened the second period with three goals in a row and went to 5:2. Although Tourcoing managed to narrow the gap to two (3:5), Strasbourg continued to dominate the game, extending its lead to 7:3. From that point on, the margin was never less than three goals.

Montpellier put up a strong fight against Noisy-le-Sec, but the Parisians ultimately secured an 11:9 win, largely thanks to Alex Bowen, who scored six goals for Noisy.

Greek League, 1st round, postponed matches
The 1st round of the Greek League was completed with two postponed matches.
Olympiacos and Apollon fought a big battle, but Olympiacos prevailed. Apollon got off to a good start and took a 3:1 lead in the first quarter. Olympiacos, the visiting team in this match, produced a 6:0 run. The visitors leveled at 3:3 before the middle break and extended their series of goals to earn a 7:3 advantage at halftime. However, the contest wasn’t over yet. Apollon cut the deficit and trailed by a goal (7:8). Early in the fourth quarter. Genidounias doubled the visitors’ advantage. Alamanos set the final score – 8:9 in Apollon’s last attack.
