On the eve of the World League Super Final, which begins today, several transfers in the European male clubs have been confirmed.

Goalkeeper of “Aussie Sharks” moves to Barceloneta
One more Australian will play in Europe next season. Barceloneta announced that it had signed a contract with Nick Porter, the goalkeeper of the Australian national team. He will join his countryman Luke Pavillard, who moved to Barceloneta last summer. Porter debuted for Australia in 2018. Before coming to Europe, he played for two Australian clubs – Queensland Breakers and Queensland Thunder. Porter experienced playing in the American college League (NCAA). During his studies in the USA, he played for one of the best NCCA teams – the Trojans (The University of Southern California).
Porter is Barceloneta’s first reinforcement this summer and will again be coached by Elvis Fatovic, who was Australia’s head coach for years before arriving at Barceloneta last year.
Porter will replace the legendary Dani Lopez, who retired after the end of the season.
This evening, Porter will play against some of his future teammates in the World League match Australia – Spain.
Besides Lopez, four players left Barceloneta- Alvaro Granados (Novi Beograd), Oscar Asensio, Albert Ponferrada and Australian Joe Bruce.
Savona prepares for Champions League
Savona, which finished 3rd in the Italian League and will enter the Champions League qualifications, is left without four players. Andrea Fondelli and Matteo Iocchi Gratta moved to Pro Recco, while 39-year-old Guillermo Molina, who played for the national teams of Spain and Italy, and goalkeeper Francesco Massaro will continue their careers in Iren Quinto.
But, Savona has brought several very good players and already has done several good jobs in the transfer market. A few days ago, Bogdan Djurdjic, a player of the Montenegrin national team, moved to Savona from Crvena Zvezda. Djurdjic played for Budva and Marseille and won the 2019 LEN Euro Cup with the French club.
Djurdjic is the fifth newcomer to Savona this summer. A new goalkeeper is Gianmarco Nicosia, a regular member of the Italian national team who arrived from Telimar after the end of the Italian Serie A1. An experienced Giacomo Lanzoni came from Metanopoli Milano. Two players moved from Iren Quinto to Savona – Mario Guidi and Federico Panerai.
Newcomer to the Serie A1, Akker Bologna signed Croat Kristijan Milakovic, who played for Szolnok in the last season. He has already played in the Italian Serie A1 as a member of Como, Savona, and Trieste. Akker has high ambitions and has brought several players. Besides Milakovic, Alberto Vecchi (Anzio Waterpolis), goalkeeper Francesco Chiara (Trieste), and Argentinian defender Tomy Alfonso (Catalunya, Spain) have arrived so far.
One of the best Brazilian water polo players Gustavo Guimaraes (28) is back in Italy. He joined Catania. Guimaraes was in Palaio Faliro (Greece) in the last season. He has played in Europe for years. Guimaraes wore caps of two Italian clubs earlier (Savona and Trieste).
Pijetlovic leaves Novi Beograd
It’s well known that Novi Beograd will enter the new season with a new coach, Zivko Gocic, and four newcomers – Alvaro Granados (who came from Barceloneta), Dimitrios Skoumpakis (Vouliagmeni), goalkeeper Radoslav Filipovic and Savo Cetkovic (both Sabac).
As for departures, we already reported that Drasko Gogov had left the club and moved to Noisy-le-Sec. The contract with Petar Tomic expired, and he will continue his career abroad. Besides the two, an experienced double Olympic champion, goalkeeper Gojko Pijetlovic won’t stay at Novi Beograd. Zivko Gocic counts on two goalkeepers – Brazilian Joao Pedro Coimbra and Radoslav Filipovic.
Two Serbs in Apollon
Apollon Smyrnis formed a small “Serbian colony”. After Nikola Bogdanovic, the best scorer of the 2021/22 Serbian League, who came from Vojvodina, left-handed Lazar Vickovic (23)joined Apollon. He started his career in Partizan and played for the seven-time European champion until this summer. He spent one season at Crvena Zvezda, and won the Serbian Cup with the “red whites”.
Three arrivals at Dinamo
For the end of today’s preview, there is some news from the far east of Europe. The best Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi, which has a Champions League wild card, has completed several transfers.
Croat Andrija Vlahovic, who scored 52 goals for Telimar Palermo in the last season, signed a contract with Dinamo. A young Hungarian goalkeeper Gyapjas Brendon (19) comes to Dinamo on loan from Ferencvaros. Georgi Khivicha Jakhaia, the defender of the Georgian national team, returned to the homeland. He left Stade De Reims (France) to join Dinamo.
