After an eight-month break, Denes Varga played his first official match.
The winner of the 2019 Total Player Award recovered from an injury he suffered in June during the preparation camp of the Hungarian national team. This evening, he played for Ferencvaros in the opening match of Hungarian League Day 11 and was one of the best players in a win over Tatabanya.
2020/21 Hungarian League, Day 11

Ferencvaros hosted Tatabanya and recorded a convincing 23:7 win. Varga was the best scorer, with four goals. Gergo Zalanki, who returned to the team last week, added three, as well as Gergo Fekete, Nikola Jaksic, and Ioannis Fountoulis.
Varga scored the first goal in the match, after just 15 seconds of play. Everything was clear after the first quarter, but Ferencvaros didn’t slow down and ran over the last-placed team in the league.
On March 7, Varga played for Ferencvaros in a 17:7 victory over Szentes. That was Ferencvaros’s last match in the suspended season. In June, Varga got injured and couldn’t help his teammates in the Hungarian Cup and in the first nine matches of the Hungarian League. But he came back at the right time. Early in December, Ferencvaros will start its journey in the Champions League.
