Total Waterpolo Arena’s Champions League coverage offers a lot of information. In the past few days, we presented the lists of the best scores, assistants, goalkeepers, and blockers in the first half of the Champions League Main Stage and explained what the Water Polo Efficiency Rating (WER) is.
But it wasn’t the end. Our live scoring system and the team have more data that additionally explain the functioning of the Water Polo Efficiency Rating
Three players who are among the top five in the WER list are double troublemakers.
They make trouble to the opponents’ defenses in two ways.
Three double troublemakers are Felipe Perrone, Andrija Prlainovic, and Andrija Basic because they have the best combined scored goals and assists in the attacking performance of their teams (over 40%).
Andrija Basic has been directly involved in 45% of Waspo Hannover’s goals by scoring 17 goals and delivering 12 assists since the start of the season.
Andrija Prlainovic took part in 43% of Marseille’s goals in the first seven rounds, with 17 goals and 13 assists.
Felipe Perrone is the best scorer of the first half of the regular season, with 22 goals. In addition, he had 13 assists, which means he was involved in 41% of the goals that Barceloneta netted in the first half of the regular season.
Prliainovic is in 1st, Basic in 2nd, and Perrone in 4th place on the WER list.
We can mention Ioannis Fountoulis, who also has a good sum in this criteria, with 18 assists and 15 goals. He contributed to 36% of Olympiacos’ goals.
Triple-double
Andrija Prlainovic is a polite guy outside the water, but he is a “troublemaker” and a “thief” in the pool. Prlainovic is one of the only two players with double-digit output in three statistical categories.
Besides 17 goals and 13 assists, he collected 13 steals. Prlainovic, the five-time Champions League winner (with four clubs), is in 1st place on the list of the players with the most steals.
These data show why Prlainovic leads the race in Water Polo Efficiency Rating, which we presented yesterday.
Vouliagmeni’s Efstathios Kalogeropoulos is the other player who recorded a “triple-double “in the first half of the Main Stage (12 goals, 12 assists, 10 steals).
The Greek is also among the top 5 in the WER list. Kalogeropoulos is in 5th place.
