Greece has officially announced the composition of its 15-player roster for the upcoming World Cup finals in Long Beach, scheduled to take place from the 23rd to the 25th of June.
Head Coach Alexia Kammenou has chosen to retain the majority of the team that participated in the preliminary rounds held in Rotterdam and Athens back in April, which garnered less than impressive results. However, the squad will undoubtedly benefit from the return of Eleftheria Plevritou, who was unable to participate in the previous competition due to injury.
Eleven of the fifteen players in the squad hail from the national championship winning Olympiacos team.
Greece will take on Hungary in the World Cup Quarter-Finals in Long Beach, in the same setting that the Los Angeles Olympic Games Water Polo competition will take place.
In preparation for the tournament, the Greek team will depart for the United States on the 6th of June. During their stay, they will engage in training sessions with the tournament hosts, Team USA, and also compete against them in three friendly matches scheduled for the 9th, 12th, and 15th of June.
