Hungary’s roster for the World Cup Finals has been announced.
Atilla Biro has picked a roster of sixteen for the three-day competition to be held in Long Beach, California, on 23rd-25th June.
The squad selection, which features ten Olympic medalists from Tokyo, was confirmed this morning, amidst the back-drop of Hungary’s routine 12-7 victory over Italy yesterday evening.
The composition of the team remains largely unchanged from their previous two World Aquatic tournaments, with the notable absences of some younger players including Panni Szegedi, Dalma Domsodi, and Panna Tiba.
From the team that won silver at the World League Super Finals in Tenerife last Autumn, the only change comes at centre back, with Natasa Rybanska replacing Panna Pocze.
Although the squad currently contains 16 players, that number will be reduced to 15 ahead of the Magyar’s trip to Anzio to face Italy in another warm-up match on 15th June, before Hungary travel to Canada for another pre-tournament test match.
Hungary’s opponents in the quarter-finals are Greece – who are already in the United States in preparation for the tournament later this month.
