For the seventh year in a row, Waspo98 Hannover and Spandau 04 will play in the final of the German Championships.
A week ago, it could be foreseen that this year’s final would be a new clash between the two German representatives in the Champions League. Waspo Hannover secured its spot a week ago, beating ASC Duisburg in the first two semifinal games.
Spandau was on a good way to the final after a 25:6 away victory over White Sharks Hannover. The Berliners weren’t so convincing on their field, but they cruised to the final with a 15:6 victory in the second game.

The visitors from Hannover scored the first goal in the game, but Spandau responded with seven. Late into the second period, Spandau had a 7:1 advantage. In the second half, the hosts weren’t at full speed..They saved energy for more demanding challenges. The center-forward of the Dutch national team Bilal Gbadamassi was the best scorer with four goals
Spandau will be the host in the first, third and eventual fifth match of the final.

Ludwigsburg advanced to the 5th-place playoffs, beating Krefeld 1972 in both games. Ludwigsburg recorded a 17:10 victory at home. Krefeld, , the newcomer to A1 Bundesliga, didn’t surrender without a big battle in the home pool. Ludwigsburg opened the match better, but the home side leveled at 5:5 before the middle break. Krefeld earned a 6:5 and 7:6 lead early in the third quarter. But, Ludwigsburg retook control and made a solid 11:8 advantage before the final period. Krefeld couldn’t endanger the visitors’ victory.
Ludwigsburg joined OSC Potsdam, which secured itself a spot in the matches for 5th place earlier.
