The Italian League starts on Saturday, but coronavirus attacked Italian water polo. Because of three coronavirus cases, the National Swimming Federation (Federnuoto) has postponed three matches of the first round.
The two stages of the Italian Cup were played in the past two weekends, and everything went ahead as planned.
But, early in this week, Telimar Palermo reported that one of their players, Francesco Lo Cascio, had tested positive for COVID-19. Last week, Telimar hosted one of the Italian Cup tournaments and played against Brescia, Quinto, and Posillipo.
The players of these clubs underwent testing again in the past few days.
Two tests have come back positive for now. Marco Del Lungo and Edoardo Di Somma (both Brescia) have been infected. The results of Posillipo’s and Quinto’s players are expected to come today. After three coronavirus cases, Federnuoto postponed all the matches in which the four clubs are involved: Metanopoli – Telimar, Brescia – Roma, and Posillipo – Quinto.
Telimar already asked for the postponement of its both games in the first two round. The Palermo-based team will host Florentia on Day 2, which is scheduled for October 10.
If nothing changes, three games will be played on Saturday.
