Three European water polo championships will be staged next year.
It has been known for a long time that the packed 2024 water polo year will start with the European Championships in Netanya (January 3 – 16).
LEN has decided on the hosts of the junior championships and announced the preliminary events calendar for 2024.
The European Women’s U19 Championships will take place in Zagreb (Croatia) between August 26 and September 1. The Men’s U19 Europeans will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria (September 10 – 16).
The capital of Croatia and the Bulgarian city on the coast of the Black Sea have hosted significant water polo competitions several times. This year, the European U15 Women’s Championships and the qualifications for the Men’s World Cup were held in the Mladost pool in Zagreb. Thirteen years ago, Zagreb welcomed the participants of the senior Europeans. Burgas hosted the first-ever European Men’s U15 Championships in 2019 and several other tournaments.
Four Final Fours
As for the competitions for the clubs, we have already published the Men’s Champions League calendar, which will end with the Final Four (June 6 – 8).
According to the preliminary calendar, the Final Four of the Women’s Champions League is scheduled for April 20 and 21.
Both LEN Euro Cups will end with the Final Four tournaments (not with the final matches on a home and away basis as it was until now).
The dates of the Women’s Euro Cup Final Four are April 13 and 14. The Men’s Euro Cup F4 will be held four weeks later (May 17 and 18).
The hosts of the Final Four tournaments in all four competitions have yet to be determined. The qualified teams will probably have the best chances to be awarded the organization of the tournaments.
As for the LEN Challenger Cup, the finals will be home and away matches. The best two male clubs will battle for the trophy on April 6 and April 27. The dates for the LEN Women’s Challenger Cup final games haven’t been confirmed yet.
