Rita Keszthelyi has signed a new contract with Mataro, extending her stay on the Maresme Coast for another season.
Having spent eight years at UVSE, the 31-year-old joined the Spanish club last summer, and her impact under the guidance of Dani Ballart has been nothing short of impressive. In her debut season, she emerged as the league’s leading goal scorer, netting a remarkable tally of 100 goals in twenty-six games.
Despite their formidable efforts this campaign, Mataro narrowly missed out on securing titles in various competitions, finishing as runners-up in the Spanish League, the Champions League, the Copa de la Reina, and the Copa Catalunya, with Sabadell claiming victory each time.
Keszthelyi:”It was time for me to put myself and my health first”
While it was widely expected that Keszthelyi would continue her journey with Mataro this season, the renewal of her contract holds significant importance for the club. It signifies their commitment to evolving into one of the finest clubs in Spain and Europe.
Keszthelyi is currently the captain of the Hungarian national team, and will lead her nation to the World Cup next month and the World Championships in July
With Keszthelyi now secure, the club is expected to tie down Dutch superstar, Simone Van de Kraats, for another season with Dani Ballarts team.
