Olympic silver medalist Angelos Vlachopoulos is rumored to be planning an exit from Novi Beograd this summer, with indications that his former club, Olympiacos, is leading the race to secure the services of the 32-year-old for the upcoming season.
Novi Beograd is expected to undergo a significant reshuffling of its roster during the transfer window, with Vlachopoulos among those likely to depart. He joined the Serbian giants in 2021 and, after three seasons, has led them to back-to-back Serbian titles.
Vlachopoulos honed his skills at Vouliagmeni before making a move to Olympiacos in 2013. His career prior to joining Belgrade included impactful stints in Italy with Posillipo (2016-17) and Brescia (2020-21), and in Hungary with Eger (2017-2020), before the latter club faced financial challenges.
In addition to Vlachopoulos' rumored departure, Duško Pijetlović and Filip Filipović are poised to conclude their distinguished playing careers at the end of the season.
Both clubs, Novi Beograd and Olympiacos, are well-positioned to win their respective national championships and progress to the Champions League Final-4 event later this summer.
