Savona has been at the center of transfer market activity over the past few days.
The Italian team, which finished as runners-up in this year's Scudetto, is poised to sign Davide Occhione and Quinn Woodhead from Telimar. Alberto Angelini's squad is also close to finalizing the acquisition of Luca Damonte from FTC.
Today, however, another deal appears to be on the brink of completion, this time involving another Ferencvaros player, Daniil Merkulov.
The 27-year-old Russian could debut in the Italian league next season, having previously played for Jadran Herceg Novi, Jug Dubrovnik, and FTC-Telekom. Mekulov represented Russia 23 times in his career.
However, one rumor about Savona has been debunked. Sources at Pro Recco have explicitly stated that Giacomo Cannella will not join Savona, despite discussions to that effect.
