The club season has not yet concluded, but the biggest transfer deal of the summer is already making headlines.
Dutch international and 2023 Total Award winner Simone van de Kraats has signed a contract with European champions Astralpool Sabadell. The 23-year-old left-hander, widely regarded as the best attacking player in the world, is making the switch from their arch-rivals, CN Mataro.
With this move, Sabadell's already formidable right flank becomes unparalleled. The pairing of Judith Forca and Simone van de Kraats is poised to be virtually unstoppable next season.
An official announcement from the club is expected soon.
Van de Kraats arrived in Spain in 2021, following a stellar performance at the Tokyo Olympic Games where she finished as the tournament's top goal-scorer. Over the past two years, she has gone from strength to strength, cementing her reputation as the world's best player. During the same period, she has also been the standout player for the Dutch national team, which has secured both a world and a European title.
Van de Kraats is not the only Dutch player making the move from Maresme to Sabadell; Laura Aarts is also set to join the European champions. Mataro's other Dutch star, Vivian Sevenich, is also expected to depart the club at the end of the season.
