Hungarian duo, Marton Vamos and Krisztian Manhercz, are poised to return to Ferencvaros for the 2024/25 season.
Having both previously played as wingers for FTC-Telekom during the 2017-18 season, the duo is making their way back to Budapest after successful tenures abroad. The left-handed Vamos returns after an illustrious spell with the Greek giants, Olympiacos, while the left-flanking Manhercz concludes a year-long engagement with French highflyers, Marseille.
Vamos, 31, returns to Fradi with a respectable medal haul from Greece, having twice won a league and cup double with the Red-Whites. Before departing for Piraeus, Vamos was a two-time Champions League winner; first with Szolnok in 2017, and later with Ferencvaros in 2019.
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Manhercz, who left Ferencvaros in 2018, had since aligned with OSC, where he remained up until his recent stint in Marseille. Despite his absence, rumors have consistently linked him with a move back to Ferencvaros - the 25-time Hungarian champions.
There was an option for Manhercz to extened his one-year contract in South France, but the player is nearing a deal that will see him return to the Hungarian captial.
Both goal-scorers have enjoyed significant successes together in the Hungarian national team; taking gold at the 2020 European Championships in Budapest, and gold at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, accolades that sandwich an Olympic bronze medal in Tokyo in 2021. The Fradi hierachy will hope their experience, chemistry and quality will bolster FTC's Champions League prospects next season.
