The derby of the quarterfinals was, undoubtedly, the duel between the league-leader Spandau 04 and 2nd-placed ASC Duisburg. A week ago, ASC beat reigning champion Waspo Hannover in the championship match (for the second time in the season). However, it couldn’t make a new feat, although it started well into the game. It kept up with the Berliners for more than two quarters. The hosts led 2:1 and 4:3 in the first half. Spandau entered the third period with a 6:4 advantage.
Early in the third quarter, ASC cut the deficit (5:6). However, Spandau started crushing the rival shortly after. ASC scored its last goal in the 21st minute (6:9). In the remaining 11 minutes, the Berliners, led by outstanding Denis Strelezkij (8 goals), produced a 10:0 run for a 19:6 victory.
Waspo Hannover left no chance to Bayer. The visitors dominated from the beginning until the end of the match.
The Final Four will be played on the last weekend of March.
