For the third consecutive year, February in Šibenik will be dedicated to the Memorial Tournament “The Sunny Cup” (Sunčana kapica). This competition is set to take place in the indoor pool “Crnica” in Šibenik from February 15 to 18.
Teams in the U12 category (players born in 2011 or later) will compete in the tournament, which was established in honor of Grgo Renje and Renato Vrbičić, club legends of Solaris who were both players and coaches and tragically passed away in 2018.
The top three teams will be awarded the “Sunčana kapica” statues and medals. The best center-forward will receive a “Sunčana Kapica” statue featuring the number 7 to commemorate Renato Vrbičić, while the outstanding goalkeeper will be honored with a statue bearing the number 1, in memory of Grgo Renje. Additionally, the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament will be recognized based on Total Waterpolo Arena statistics.
The tournament is expected to host either 8 or 12 teams, as per the preliminary plans.
