Denes Varga was the player who marked the last year. In 2019, he won everything there is to win with his club Ferencvaros, as well as the Europa Cup gold medal with Hungary. Due to his stellar performance during that season, he was crowned the Total Player 2019, earning him a place in our Expert Jury.
In January 2020, Varga led the national team of Hungary to their first European gold medal in the 21st century. This title in Budapest was Varga’s 14th medal with the national team from major competitions, and his third gold (after the 2008 Olympics and the 2013 World Championships).
Denes Varga’s Timeless 7
Denes added: "These are my top picks, but I could mention another 6-7 players who had a huge influence on me.
First of all - my brother Daniel. Ever since my childhood, he gave me extra motivation to be better than him just by his existence.
Veljko Uskokovic, of whom I watched the most amount of the videos. Simply unbelievable shooting skills.
Aleksandar Sapic was my second most overwatched shooter.
Sandro Sukno, who was the second most entertaining to watch (after Kasas!)
Aleksandar Ivovic because of his incredible physical skills.
Vanja Udovicic because he had some great individual solutions still not imitated perfectly to this day."
