Total Player 2021 by Filip Filipovic

Filip Filipović finished his magnificent career in the national team in the best possible way. He led Serbia as a captain to the Olympic gold and was voted the MVP of the tournament in Tokyo.

He played for Serbia for 18 years, scored 677 goals in 381 games, and won more than 30 medals, including two Olympic titles (2016, 2021), two gold medals at the World Championships. He is the only player in history who clinched six golds at the European Championships. He won three Champions Leagues, two LEN Euro Cups, and many domestic trophies at the club level. This year, Filipović clinched the LEN Euro Cup and the Hungarian Championship with Szolnok, and moved to Olympiacos afterward.

1. Dusan Mandic (SRB)

Serbian National Player | Clubs: Pro Recco / Novi Beograd | Position: Right Driver

Dušan Mandic was a key player in Recco's win in the Champions League and deserved the MVP award at the Final Eight. He has been playing an important role in the Serbian national team for years and was outstanding at the Olympic Games.

2. Dusko Pijetlovic (SRB)

Serbian National Player/Clubs: Szolnok, Novi Beograd/Position: Centre-forward

Dusko Pijetlovic has been the best center-forward in the world this year, and not just this year. He made a great contribution to Serbia's win in Tokyo and Szolnok's triumphs in the LEN Euro Cup and the Hungarian Championships. This year, he continued proving that he can play excellently both in attack and defense.

3. Nikola Jaksic (SRB)

Serbian National Player/Clubs: Ferencvaros, Novi Beograd/Position: Centre-back

Jakšić debuted for the national team as a very young player and has been playing better and better from year to year. He was fantastic at the Olympic Games and had a very successful season with Ferencvaros. He is an excellent defender but also one of the best scorers in teams he plays for.

4. Ioannis Fountoulis (GRE)

Greek National Player/Clubs: Ferencvaros, Olympiacos/Position: Driver

Greece had a great year – after winning bronze in the World League, they reached the Olympic podium for the first time Ioannis Fountoulis has been a true leader of the team, which achieved historical success in Tokyo. He left a strong mark in Ferencvaros.

5. Felipe Perrone

Spanish National Player | Club: Barceloneta | Position: Driver

In the last few years, Spain has returned to the circle of the best national teams in the world. Perrone has had an important role in that return. This year, he has been Spain's and Barceloneta's crucial player.
