Total Player 2022 by Dusan Mandic

December 2, 2022

Dusan Mandic deserved a spot on our jury as the 2021 Total Player Award winner.

The previous year was the most successful in his career. He won the Olympic gold with Serbia, and the Champions League with Pro Recco, being elected the best player of the Final Eight.

However, these are just a few of the successes of an outstanding left-handed player who won two Olympic golds with Serbia, one gold at the World Championships, three first places at the Europeans, four World League titles , etc.

Since last year, he has been leading Novi Beograd as a captain and won the Serbian League, Regional league and the silver medal in the Champions League in the last season.

Dusan Mandic’s Top 5 of 2022

“I picked the players who were the most successful in the clubs’ season and the competitions for the national teams. It was difficult to decide. The order of the top five could be different”

1. Felipe Perrone (ESP)

Spanish National Team Player. Club: Barceloneta. Position: Driver.

Perrone has been a brain and the leader of Spain's national team. He is a very intelligent player who, besides making a great contribution to results, makes other players better.
Di Fulvio540x540

2. Francesco di Fulvio (ITA)

Italian National Player.Club: Pro Recco. Position: Left Driver

Di Fulvio won everything he could with Pro Recco and silver with Italy at the World Championships after a loss in a penalty shootout. He is a great player and an extraordinary attacker. Italy wouldn't have reached the final in Budapest, if it hadn't had Di Fulvio on the team.
Vlachopoulos540x540

3. Angelos Vlachopoulos (GRE)

Greek National Player. Club: Novi Beograd. Position: Driver

Vlachopoulos is a patient player. With his patience, he forces the rivals to make mistakes. He has an excellent overview of the play during the match and a tricky shot that is inconvenient for all goalkeepers. He won bronze at the World Championships and played in the Champions League final.
Zalanki540x540

4. Gergo Zalanki (HUN)

Hungarian National Player. Club: Pro Recco. Position: Wing

Zalanki had an outstanding season with his club and won everything he could with Pro Recco. Besides, he played in the finals of the European championships. He is an exceptional left-handed shooter and swimmer on the right side.
Vrlic540x540

5. Josip Vrlic (CRO)

Croatian National Player. Club: Radnicki. Position: Centre-forward

One of the most dominant center-forwards at the clubs' and the national teams' levels. He won gold at the European Championships.
