Total Player 2023 by Eva Doudesis

December 15, 2023

Eva Doudesis is the head coach of the Netherlands women’s national team.

The former Greek international initially joined the Polar Bears men’s team as a player, but was quickly elevated to head coach of the entire women’s section in Ede. As the women’s head coach, he led the Ede Polar Bears from last place in the Eredivisie to the league title in 2018.

Due to his unprecedented success, he was appointed as the assistant coach of the Netherlands women’s national team, as well as the junior national teams, in 2017. After the Tokyo Olympics, he was finally given the opportunity to take over as head coach of the women’s national team, guiding the Netherlands to a bronze medal finish at this year’s World Championships.

“It’s always difficult to choose the best between so many great players.” Doudesis said. “Ruiz, Banceli, Leiton, Kearns, Roemer, Hajdu Kata and Xenaki were great this season.”

“The biggest qualities of my top5: Consistency and experience.” he added.Β

+2 Pts | Maica Garcia (ESP)

Spain National Team Player. Club: Sabadell. Position: Centre-forward

Dominant like always in centre position. A true leader. She led both her teams to big successes (Spain winning silver in Fukuoka and bronze in Long Beach. Sabadell winning the Champions League and Spanish championship).

+3 Pts | Maggie Steffens (USA)

United States National Team Player. Club: Sabadell. Position: Utility/h4> A great role model. It’s not always about scoring goals. Maggie was great in Fukuoka covering all parts of the field. I remember her playing in centre position, defender but also scoring some fantastic goals at the same game.
