Ioannis Fountoulis has been one of the β€žtrademarks β€œ of Greek water polo in the last several years.

He was an important part of all the successes of the Greek national team in the past decade, including the Olympic silver medal in Tokyo, two bronzes at the World Championships, etc.

This year, Fountoulis led Greece, as a captain, to the team’s biggest success at the World Championships. The Greeks won silver in Fukuoka.

For most of his career, Ioannis has played for Olympiacos. He won the 2018 Champions League and earned two silver medals (in 2015 and 2019) playing for Olympiacos, as well as a silver medal with Ferencvaros at the Final Eight in 2021.
