Two weeks ago, ASC Duisburg upset title-holder Waspo 98 and beat it in Hannover. This weekend, Duisburg returned to the pool in Hannover to play against Waspo’s development team White Sharks. Still, this time, ASC earned only one point.
It was a really exciting game. ASC Duisburg led for most of the first half. In the middle of the second quarter, the visitors had a 6:4 advantage. However, White Sharks netted four straight goals in the last four minutes of the first half and entered the third period leading 8:6.
The visitors, whose power engines were Lukas Kuppers and Robert Gergelyfi, caught up with the Sharks before the final period (9:9). Gergelyfi gave ASC a 10:9 lead five minutes from the end, but the Sharks equalized (10:10). Still, ASC regained a 2-goal lead. Kuppers added his sixth goal and made it 12:10 with 54 seconds left on the clock. It seemed that Duisburg would earn three new points in Hannover. But, White Sharks scored two goals in the last 33 seconds. Niklas Schipper found the net with four seconds to go to add his 4th goal in the game, and the match ended in a 12:12 draw.
Spandau showed no mercy to Esslingen, which fielded only 10 players in the match in Berlin.
Esslingen had a 13-player roster in the match against the other big German team, Waspo 98 Hannover. Still, the title holder was too strong for the hosts.
Neukolln earned its first points in the season, beating OSC Potsdam. Most of the time, the teams were in a neck-and-neck race, but OSC led just once (3:2). After that, it chased the rival. The visitors leveled at 8:8 in the 28th minute. Shortly after, Neukolln regained a lead (9:8). OSC missed a few chances to level the score, and Filo decided everything scoring for 10:8 with 30 seconds remaining on the clock.
