Argentina’s introduction to the World League Inter-Continental Cup in Auckland came in dramatic fashion with Kazakhstan’s coach ejected and the game decided in their favor by a penalty shoot out. Argentina’s Esteban Corsi commented:
“We felt like it was a tough and physical game but that we were the equal of Kazakhstan in the water. Although we lost the game we felt we made it a great game. It is good to be back (in this sort of tournament) and we want to grow in these tournaments.”
The USA had an outstanding win against Saudi Arabia (18-3) while Australia beat Canada 15-8 after a tough match. Australia’s Aaron Younger looked back on the game:
“I’m pretty buggered to be honest but it was a big game for us because we should qualify for the top four now so the focus was just on the result. It was pretty physical early on but once we got a bit of a gap things settled down. We play Argentina (in the first game of Day 3) and realistically we should win that. The goal is the final.”
