Last year he got the Total Player Award and now he’s voting for the player of the year. Today is the day to welcome Sandro Sukno back to Total Water Polo!
The best player of 2017 has been in the pool since he was young. Pursuing his career with dedication and success, he won the first Award for the best water polo player in the world. The 2017/2018 season brought a lot on the last year’s winner, though. The heart surgery and the extensive recovery set him back for a whole year, but now Sukno is back in the pool with a fresh contract with VK Jug Dubrovnik.
With 83 points in the last year’s Award, when won the race against Prlainović, Sukno gave his opinion on the players. This year, some of them can be found on the list, only now Sukno is one of the Jurors. See who he picked for the Total Player of 2018!
Sandro Sukno’s Total 5 of 2018
1st – Andro Bušlje
Croatian National Player | Club: Olympiacos Piraeus | Position: Centre Back
“Bušlje is the best Back in the world at the moment. He was the one to whom Olympiacos owes the most for the gold medal in the Champions League. Also, his contribution to the bronze medal at the European Championships is undeniable. He’s a great defensive player, but this season showed us how good he is in the attacking line too.”
2nd – Felipe Perrone
Spanish National Player | Club: Barceloneta | Position: Field Player
“Perrone might be the most complete player up to this day. With his high-class play, Barceloneta was reborn and not to even mention his success in the National Team. Spain won the silver medal at the European Championships, which meant a lot, especially if we’re to remember the last season’s show in Budapest.”
3rd – Josip Pavić
Croatian National Player | Club: Olympiacos Piraeus | Position: Goalkeeper
“Olympiacos owes a lot to Pavić. Winning the Champions League and shutting down Pro Recco had a lot to do with this man and his play.”
4th – Andrija Prlainović
Serbian National Player | Club: Szolnoki VSC | Position: Wing
“Prlainović would be much higher on this list if it wasn’t for the injury he got in the finals of the club season. Nonetheless, he can take the credit for the European Championships gold.”
5th – Luka Lončar
Croatian National Player | Club: VK Jug | Position: Centre Forward
“To be short and precise, Lončar is the best Center in the world.”
