New Zealand’s Emily Nicholson is set to become Tenerife Echeyde’s third signing so far this Summer, joining Itziar Pavón’s ambitious project for the club based in the Canary Islands.
The 24-year-old Kiwi is an excellent centre-forward, and was a leading light in the hugely impressive New Zealand side that finished 10th at the recent World Championships in Budapest.
The club have not officially named Nicholson yet, but today have released a teaser video which all but names the centre-forward as being their latest signing.
Nicholson joins Echeyde from Fresno State Bulldogs, where she spent four years in the United States. Before Fresno, she played for North Harbour in New Zealand.
The centre is the third Summer target that Echeyde have managed to bag, having already secured the signatures of the Canadian keeper, Jessica Gaudreault, and Maria Ramos from Boadilla.
On the topic of Kiwis emigrating to Europe, Spandau 04 have made a very smart signing of Jessica Milicich. The 26-year-old was one of New Zealand’s two goalkeepers who played at the 2022 Budapest World Championships, and will significantly aid Spandau in their bid to retain their German League title from last season.
