Barcelona edged out Sabadell in the derby of a very interesting 8th round of the Spanish League.
Barcelona recorded a narrow 9:8 victory in the clash between the LEN Euro Cup semifinalists, but this game wasn’t the only exciting game of the weekend.

The derby between Barcelona and Sabadell was a close battle, with a lot of twists and turns, but the difference between the teams was never larger than a goal. Sabadell entered the final quarter with a 7:6 advantage. The hosts equalized shortly after the last break (7:7). But, Sabadell earned a new lead in the middle of the quarter (8:7). However, the visitors returned home empty-handed as Barcelona’s Pere Estrany scored the last two goals in the match for a 9:8 victory. Estrany was the man of the match with four goals.
Most of the other games of the round were quite balanced, too.
4th-placed Terrassa needed a lot of time to defeat newcomer Rubi. Terrassa led throughout the game, but Rubi was coming back from time to time. In the 31st minute, Rubi cut the deficit to one goal (11:12). But, Terrassa’s Carillo responded with two quick goals for 14:11. Rubi scored a consolation goal after that.
An encounter between Sant Andreu and Mediterrani was very similar to the duel Terrassa – Rubi. Mediterrani was chasing Sant Andreu in the second half. Everything was decided in the last two minutes when the hosts earned a 14:11 advantage.
Catalunya turned around a 6:7 to an 8:7 lead at the finish of the game and secured three points.
Mataro started slowly. Still, the hosts kept Real goalless in the second half to record the biggest win of the day.
