Yesterday a new episode of the Italian TV show Controfuga was aired on the Facebook pages “Waterpolopeople” and “Controfuga”.
The guests via teleconference were Francesco Di Fulvio (player of Pro Recco), Paolo Zizza (head coach of the female team of Italy), Andrea Malchiodi (President of Brescia), Giorgio Giorgi (President of Quinto) and journalist Francesco Grillone (Director of the website Waterpoloitaly). Among the topics was the necessity of having a competitive and spectacular national championship. It is speculated about the blocking promotion from Serie A2 for three years to have Serie A1 with a maximum of 10 teams. These teams would have to respect some several rules about economic and organizational aspects, like the NBA. Actually, in Italy, there isn’t a TV station that broadcasts championship games.
President Malchiodi has confirmed that the “market transfer” is closed for Brescia.
Zizza and Di Fulvio said that the preparations of the national teams go well, but the main difficulty for the athletes (male and female) is in training with balls (vertical exercises), and not swimming.
Di Fulvio talked about Vincenzo Renzuto (the only one player of “Settebello” that hasn’t a team yet ):
“Renzuto is a fantastic player. He can play everywhere, and he can do every role. If I were a president of a club, I’d take him immediately.”
President Malchiodi said that Brescia is a competitive team this year. They will try to win the national championship.
