Since the beginning of the 21st century, Brescia has been one of the best European teams.
The first golden era was between 2002 and 2006, when Brescia won three LEN Euro Cups and its first title as the Italian champion.
Several years ago, Brescia started winning trophies again. The Italian team won its 4th LEN Euro Cup in 2016. The club became a regular participant in the Champions League Final Eight the following year. Brescia finally ended Pro Recco’s domination on the domestic stage and won the Italian Championships in 2021. A few weeks after that success, Brescia achieved the best-ever result in the Champions League, winning the bronze medal. In 2022, it reached the semifinals for the second time in a row and finished 4th.
Alessandro Bovo has had an essential role in these successes. The former player of the Italian national team, who won Olympic gold in 1992 and silver in 1996, has been Brescia’s head coach since 2008.
