South Africa, the best African water polo national team, has been guided by a new head coach since this year’s World Championships.
Vaughn Marlow was named South Africa’s head coach this year before the Budapest tournament. Marlow, who played for junior and youth national teams of South Africa, started his coaching career as a student coach between 2008 and 2011. He was an assistant coach of South Africa’s senior national team at the 2019 Worlds and the 2021 Olympic Games. Besides, Marlow guided the junior and the university teams of South Africa at the World U20 Championships in 2021 and the Summer Universiade in 2017, respectively.
